At just 13 years of age, Elliot is on top of his game in the world of Breakdancing, we wanted to know how it all began, what makes him tick and what the future holds. FF. Elliott you are one of the best up and coming break-dancers in the UK at 13. Can you tell us a bit more about break-dancing and what its all about. E. Yeah break dancing is a form of dance that started out in the 80's in America-New York and from then on the moves have become stronger and breakdancing has become world wide. It has moved on over the years to become even more physical and gymnastic in style. Some of the new power moves would challenge a top gymnast. FF. So what got you into break-dancing, and were did you start practicing. E. I wanted to dance after my uncle bought me a dvd on uk's breakdancing championships. He said that i should watch it because he thought breakdancing was amazing. So from there i wanted to be a break dancer and i have been for the past 2 years now . FF. Talk us through a normal Elliott week, how do you train and how often etc E. A normal elliott week would be school and then maybe a training session at home. Every other day i do sit ups crunches press ups and jogging on the spot in my room on Thursday my propper training sessions start and i dance for 2 hours of intense dance. Friday, i dance at home doing self training for maybe half an hour. saturday my training starts at 11am and finishes at 4pm then i do some busking for an hour or two to get some pocket money. Sunday i start at 10am and finish at 2pm then again i usually do an hour or two busking . If .here are any Master classes in town with a new teacher I will always go and do that class no matter when it is. FF. What keeps you motivated to keep dancing, what inspires you. E. My mum and dad keep me motivated and help me carry on in dance and to see other amazing dancers dancing inspires me. FF. Who is your hero, who do you look up to. E. The person i look up to the most is Marty Kudelka (Justin Timberlakes choreographer) because he is the most successful dancer i know. FF. Being so good and young how do you find dancing among older dancers. E. Dancing with older people is brilliant for me as it means im not the best in the class so i see the older people as something to work up to and it steps my game up FF. What is your favorite music to dance to and why. E. My favourite music to dance to break beats like James Brown the funky drummer or the gambler.. this is because they are fast beats and in breakdance thats really what you need it doesn't look amazing dancing to intricate beats. FF. Were can we see you in the future, and what do you hope to be doing E. In the future i hope to be dancing in music videos. i want to be choreographing for famous singing artists and to be dancing on tour with famous bands . FF. Break dancing is all about style and individuality how would you best describe your own personal style of dance. E. My dancing has humour in it, half way through a freestyle dance i can throw a cheeky move in there to make it more amusing. FF. If people want to get into break dancing how can they go about it. E. If people want to get into breakdancing you can find dance studios dotted all over the country you could join www.streetdancers.co.uk to find out where your local class is. The main ones are in london and manchester but if you live no where near to a dance studio there are videos on how to breakdance going through the basic steps then ones that go through more complex steps.
