Naomi caught up with hairdresser to the stars Neville Tucker and asked him some questions about keeping your hair in shape and on trend. FF: Can you tell us a bit about your salon and some of your special treatments such as your scalp facial?NT: I started my own salon in 1994 and since then it’s gone from strength to strength. We pride ourselves on being a ‘lifestyle’ salon with the best quality service, treatments and atmosphere from the moment you arrive until you leave! We recently revamped to span four floors of gorgeous hair and beauty treatments. Some of our more ‘special’ treatments include a new ‘Caviar’ deep-conditioning hair treatment with vitamins A and E. We also have a Golden facial which uses real gold and crushed freshwater pearls to nourish the skin. Our new Acid Pedicure is also a very deep treatment and is unbeatable for getting rid of hard skin whilst still being gentle. FF: How did you get into Hairdressing, where did it all begin? NT: My Dad was a greengrocer and my Mum was a hairdresser. I knew from a very early age that I didn’t want to follow in my father’s footsteps so I started down the Hairdressing route and have loved it ever since! FF: What is your greatest achievement so far? NT: This has to be my son, Benjamin FF: What is the must have style of the season? NT: We tend to find there is no one specific style during the season as different styles suit different people, but we are definitely seeing a move away from the over-straightened look of the past years. We have launched our new ‘Onda system’ which creates the perfect wave for you whether you’d prefer ringlets or a very loose wave for around three months. The key this season is all about movement and texture. Subtle colouring is also very important this season which our colourists are expert at creating – everyone will think you’re a natural! FF: What is the best hair care advice you can give to our readers? NT: The most important thing for your hair is to have regular treatments to make it look good and be in the best condition possible. We have some great treatments at the salon such as our Mist-ifying treatment which uses dry steam to allow the treatment to penetrate deep into every hair shaft, and also a new deep-conditioning Caviar treatment. A good hairdresser is also key. FF: What is the trick to a perfect blow dry? NT: Using the right product is very important to achieve the perfect blow dry. A very light lotion or cream such as L’Oreal’s Crystal Spray works wonders. FF: How do we keep our hair looking and feeling healthy after years of bleaching, drying and frying! NT: Take care of your hair. Simple things like not using straighteners every day, gentle combing and regular treatments help. If you colour your hair then treatments are even more important to put the goodness back in. Visiting the hairdressers regularly, whether for a trim or something more intense will help to keep your hair in its best condition. FF: Whats your most popular treatments in the salon (hair and beauty) NT: Our ‘bread and butter’ is always cut and colour. We have a dedicated floor to colouring and have specialists in blonde, brunette, etc who can produce the perfect tone for every person who walks through our doors. Our manicures and pedicures are always really popular too, especially the Acid Pedicure we’ve just launched for the summer. FF: What products do you swear by? NT: I swear by Karastase products. They are the best quality and give the best results. FF: Whats next for Neville Tucker? NT: In the future I’d like to open another flagship salon so watch this space!
